It depends on what you're carrying and how you're securing it. Most tradies start with either a roller shutter or a canopy — the shutter keeps the tub weatherproof while staying low-profile, while a canopy gives you a fully enclosed, lockable space and a mounting platform for a roof rack or rooftop tent.

From there, a drawer system or toolbox stops gear sliding around and makes daily access faster. If you're carrying ladders, conduit or lengths of timber, you'll want either a ladder rack, cross bars or a tub rack rated for the load.

One thing worth checking early: every accessory you bolt on eats into your payload. A steel canopy and drawer system can account for 150–250kg before you've loaded a single tool, and exceeding your GVM affects both your insurance and your legal position on the road. Fitment is more model-specific than most people expect. Tub dimensions, rail profiles and mounting points change between generations and often between facelifts within the same generation — a HiLux N80 and an N80 facelift aren't always interchangeable, and Ranger PX3 and Next Gen are entirely different platforms.

That's why our listings specify year ranges and series codes. If your build sits near a changeover year, or you're not sure which series you've got, send us your VIN or build plate details and we'll confirm before you order.

They need to be. Coastal salt, UV, dust and corrugations are harder on gear than most overseas conditions, which is why finish quality matters as much as the base material.

Our steel products use E-coating under powder coat — the electro-deposited layer protects the areas a powder coat alone can't reach, like internal seams and weld joints, which is usually where corrosion starts. Aluminium products resist corrosion inherently, which is why they suit roof platforms and canopies where weight matters.

Sealing counts too. Roller shutters and canopies rely on seals and drainage to keep dust and water out, and both degrade faster if a vehicle lives outdoors. A yearly check of seals and mounting bolts will add years to any tub setup.

Larger items — canopies, roller shutters, roof platforms and bull bars — travel by freight rather than standard parcel post, so they're quoted separately and may need a delivery contact number. If you're in a rural area or need something by a set date, contact us before ordering and we'll get a realistic timeframe from the carrier.

Anything being fitted at our workshop can be shipped straight to us and booked in for the same week it lands.

Yes. We're a fully licensed fitting service and an authorised EGR fitment centre, working out of our workshop in Chipping Norton, NSW. Our team includes licensed auto electricians, which matters more than people realise for ute accessories.

Anything drawing power — roller shutters, brake lights, driving lights, reverse cameras, tailgate assist, ambient lighting — needs to be wired into the vehicle's loom correctly. Done badly it can trip fault codes, drain the battery, or void your vehicle warranty. Modern utes run CAN bus systems that don't tolerate improvised wiring.

Most installs are same-day. Larger jobs like canopies or full 4WD builds may need the vehicle overnight. Every install is completed to Australian standards and backed by our workmanship guarantee.
